My second, Sheryl, now 5 years.
I can say she is quite a complete different from Jerome. Since baby time, she's quite inquisitive, or say kay-po, and has good memory on things. However, again, as we're still busy with work, we did not develop her potential starting very young, her memory now seems not as good. Luckily she's still eager to learn.
We know, from the experience on Jerome, that we need to provide Sheryl with the early exposure as much as we could. We can see that Sheryl is more enthusiastic in learning then Jerome. And I'd seen the difference in my friends' kids going through Montessorri programs. Hence she was enrolled into a Montessorri school near home.
She did fantastic as a pre-nursery toddler, improving everyday and understand phonics at her tender age. We started to let her try reading at 3 and she never stop since then. And yes, we never stop buying books for her as we know she will make full use of it. Whenever she's free, she will grab any books, be it read or un-read, and read on her own.
Sheryl can adapt to school superbly well too. She will walk into the classes without even say bye bye to me. It's totally different for Jerome whom still crying on the 1st day to P1.
Another before she's in primary, will see how she fare then. 小时了了,大未必佳。

Hi Sue,
I feel for you when I read your blog. Your honesty is a good warning to us all! I also decided to pull out of the rat race to nurture my kids 2 years ago, but guess i did it earlier than you did. My older boy is more easily distracted and gives me more concern too. My girl is eager to learn :)
Huili, yes, it's really a little late for us to realise the mistakes. Still trying hard to pull Jerome back on track and not losing track for Sheryl and Joshua.
hi sue, saw your blog on one of the threads on SMH. I just took 1yr of no pay leave to be with my firstborn. Its very encouraging to read about what other SAHMs had to give up to be with their children. thanks for writing. :)
